Time Tracking

Track time spent on client work using timers or manual entries. Generate reports to analyze productivity and billable hours.

Overview

  • Start/stop timers on requests
  • Add manual time entries
  • Edit or delete entries
  • View running timers
  • Timesheet reports and PDF export

Permissions

  • edit_requests (to add/edit timesheets on requests)
  • view_all_requests (to access time reports)

Tracking Time on a Request

Start a Timer

  1. Open a request
  2. Click Start Timer
  3. Work normally; timer runs in the background
  4. Click Stop to record the entry

Manual Entry

  1. Open a request
  2. Click Add Time Entry
  3. Enter date, duration, and description
  4. Save

Manage Entries

  • Edit an entry to adjust duration/notes
  • Delete incorrect entries
  • Only authorized users can modify entries

Running Timers

  • View your running timer on a request
  • Stop when work completes to create an entry

Reporting

Timesheet Reports

  1. Go to Reports > Timesheets
  2. Filter by date, user, client, or request
  3. View totals and breakdowns
  4. Download PDF if needed

Best Practices

  • Use timers for accuracy
  • Add meaningful descriptions
  • Review weekly for correctness
  • Align with billing policy (billable vs non-billable)

Troubleshooting

  • Cannot add time: Check edit_requests permission
  • Timer missing: Ensure time tracking module is enabled for requests
  • Report empty: Adjust filters and date range
